Grandview Enhances Inpatient Rehabilitation Services With Move
11/18/2025
BIRMINGHAM, AL --- Grandview Medical Center Inpatient Rehabilitation officially opened in a new location on the Grandview Health campus today.
Formerly known as Easy Street, Grandview Inpatient Rehabilitation relocated 12 patients from the hospital to Grandview Physicians Plaza II. The new space offers enhanced equipment and capabilities to support patient recovery and help them safely return to their daily activities.
“This move represents an exciting step forward as we continue our commitment to providing the highest level of care, comfort and support to our patients and families,” said Daniel McKinney, Grandview Health CEO. “None of this happens without careful planning and a multidisciplinary approach. I personally want to thank our rehabilitation services medical director, Dr. Srinivas Mallempati, for his support and commitment, as well as our rehab leadership and staff who are making sure our patients are taken care of during this transition.”
The new 17-bed inpatient unit will feature an expanded therapy gym with modern equipment, including a robotic body weight support system. This new equipment will play a vital role in helping to safely advance patient mobility. By unloading a percentage of a patient’s body weight, the system can allow earlier, more intensive gait training with a reduced risk of falling. The body weight support system allows therapists to focus on facilitating quality movement and can enhance both safety and therapy effectiveness. Other features of the new floor include specifically designed bariatric rooms as well as an activities of daily living (ADL) bedroom and kitchen, uneven surfaces space to simulate real world challenges, modern patient rooms designed for safety and healing and room for future expansion.
Once the move is completed, Grandview will begin construction on the former rehab space. “Relocating our inpatient rehab unit allows us to open up more capacity for 24 general acute care beds on our main campus,” said McKinney.
