Grandview Medical Center 10 Years of Moving Healthcare Forward
10/8/2025
Activities include community projects, employee celebrations
BIRMINGHAM, AL (Oct. 8, 2025) – Grandview Health will mark 10 years of improving healthcare quality and expanding services for Birmingham area residents on October 10. A decade ago, Grandview Medical Center (formerly Trinity Medical Center) relocated to the 280 corridor, establishing easy access for residents in Shelby and Jefferson counties and fueling economic development and growth.
Since opening its doors in 2015, Grandview Health has continued to grow, including expansions in women’s services, cardiology and the emergency department. Grandview Cancer Center opened in 2018 while Grandview Physicians Plaza II and the Trussville Freestanding Emergency Department created additional opportunities to care for patients in 2023. In addition to more than $131M in capital investments, Grandview’s impact over the past 10 years includes job creation, expanded access to healthcare and tax contributions:
- More than $1.7B in salary and benefits to team members
- More than $370M in taxes to support local infrastructure and civic priorities
- Admissions have more than doubled from 11,523 in 2015 to more than 29,000 in 2024
“Our growth would not be possible without the support of the community, from area leaders who have helped us expand our footprint to the patients who entrust us with their care every day,” said Daniel McKinney, CEO, Grandview Health. “We will take a moment to celebrate this milestone, but our primary focus is on how we can best support and care for our patients today and in the future.”
Grandview Health employees will celebrate by giving back to the community. Groups of employees volunteered on Tuesday, October 7, at Grace Klein Community, and on Thursday, October 9, will be volunteering at Bundles of Hope Diaper Bank.
“I’m so proud of our dedicated medical staff and employees and their commitment to caring for our patients and our community,” said McKinney. “Our talented team is truly what differentiates us and what has helped us to grow and expand over the past decade.”
Grandview will host a celebration for employees on Friday, October 10. Special guests will include Meghan Whitney, the first baby born at Grandview who arrived October 11, 2015 at 12:34 a.m., and her mother Tracy Whitney, who was a nurse at Grandview at the time and had worked all of the previous day helping to move patients from the downtown location.
